Taree is officially connected to the NBN

Father and son, David and Michael Relf connect the NBN to Ritchie Crescent, Taree last Friday.TAREE is officially connected to the National Broadband Network, with the first roll out of home connections beginning on Friday (July 11).

David Relf of NIS Communications has been contracting to the NBN Co for four years now and he and his team are responsible for connections across Armidale and more recently Coffs Harbour.

He said although the uptake usually begins quite slowly, once word of mouth spreads about the speed and reliability of the service, people jump at the chance to connect.

“The feedback we have is absolutely brilliant,” David said.

“You just can’t beat it, it’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before.

“When people ask me how fast it is, I just say ‘how fast is the speed of light?’ It’s that quick.”

David is committed to employing all local people, other than his couple of specialist team members, and will be looking to grow his Taree business once more people opt to sign up to the network.

The majority of Taree has access to the fibre optic network, other than parts of the CBD, while Wingham is connected and Cundletown is in the process of the roll out.
